Location

Pledgdon Barn is set in countryside, on the B1051, one mile from Elsenham village. Its convenient location is only a few miles from the M11 and Stansted Airport. Nearby, there are 4 railway stations: Elsenham, Stansted Mountfitchet, Stansted Airport and Bishop's Stortford.

Facilities

This delightful venue can seat up to 150 guests for dinner and is an ideal location for weddings, balls, celebrations and business events.

Your 1-day event hire charge includes use of the barn the day before (between 9am and 5pm) for setting-out purposes - eg on Friday before a Saturday event - to allow ample time for your decorative preparations. You may also return before 2pm on the day after your event, to collect up decorations etc.

Use of high quality banqueting chairs and tables is included plus stage, kitchen, toilets (including facilities for disabled guests) and 'general' heating (though for winter heating, please add £95).

The event day hire period is to midnight. Request a quote if you need a time extension. Guests' empty cars may be left overnight at owners' risk, to be collected by 2pm next day.

We ask that in advance, the hirer nominates an adult with car, who will remain responsible on the event day to stay until the end, ensuring all persons have safely left the barn/curtillage (eg last guests have been collected by taxis/mini bus etc).

QUESTIONS and ANSWERS
Q How much will my reception cost?
A We've included a guideline cost for an average wedding on the Your Wedding/Event page. The cost can depend on whether you are having a pay bar or not..how many guests..how lavish your menu is...whether you're having an evening reception and so on. When you visit the barn and tell us more about your needs, we'll be happy to work out the price for your particular wedding reception requirements.

Q How far in advance do we have to pay?
A We need half the barn hire cost to accept the booking - and then the remainder of the hire charge is not due until 8 weeks before your event.

Q Is the Barn warm in the winter months?
A Yes - the Barn has full central heating.

Q Does Pledgdon Barn have accommodation?
A No and that's why we supply clients with details for many local hotels and B&Bs and have also negotiated discounts at a nearby 4 star hotel. We also can put you in touch with cab/coach companies too.

Q Can we bring our own caterers in?
A Yes, that is indeed sometimes possible though there is a fee..but talk with us about this.

Q Can we bring our own drinks in?
A Yes, and we'll quote for supplying bar staff and glasses etc.

Q If we want even more space, can we add on a marquee & a play area?
A Yes, you can. You can even have a bouncy castle on the lawn if you wish!

Q Can we decorate the Barn to suit our theme?
A Yes, every client seems to have their own ideas on decor and that's fine. Obviously, the putting up of decor mustn't harm the Grade II listed building but apart from that - enjoy creating your theme and decor!
