Drinks at Pledgdon Barn

As a cost-saving element for the client, you are able to supply the drinks to be offered at your event - and Barn Services will handle

the drinks service aspect (with glasses/equipment) throughout. Rather than charge 'corkage' rates or 'per bottle', we think it is fairer for the client to be charged 'per guest' - so you know in advance what the costs of serving drinks will be.  We will quote specifically for your event's timings and requirements.  However, the provision of glasses and staff to serve your drinks, is usually quoted for in 2 sections along the lines of: 'daytime drinks' and 'evening drinks'. See below.

 Daytime Drinks

As an example to guide you on costs: for providing service and glasses for drinks you have obtained for the daytime aspect of the drinks at a wedding (eg from the event start to the toast stage after the meal), the 2008 price per head is £6.25 inclusive, based on 75 or more guests at this part of the event. This includes service, chilling, equipment and glasses (eg elegant, long-stemmed wine glasses), polishing/putting out glasses, collecting up & washing up after and disposal of empty bottles too.

Please discuss your requirements. However, the typical style of service will be for the arrival drinks to be offered by staff from trays (and then glasses topped up as necessary). Thereafter, your table drinks will be in place on the tables for guests to help themselves to, with bottles replaced as necessary. Should a toast (eg Champagne) be required, a filled glass can be placed in front of each guest.

Evening Drinks

The 2008 price for serving drinks at the bar (for the evening aspect of an event like a wedding) - from 7.30pm through to 11.30 pm - is £4.85 per head, to include glasses, washing up, staff and empty bottle disposal after.  This represents about £1.20 per hour per guest re evening drinks service including equipment etc.

If additional guests are invited for the evening, there is sometimes the option of a licensed cash Pay Bar.  This is subject to availability and for a minimum of 110 adult guests.  We do not offer this facility ourselves but for £225 we will withdraw from the service aspect and facilitate the arrangements with our designated Pay Bar for this part of your event.

NB.  There can be no overlap between the daytime drinks (for which the client supplies the drink) and the Pay Bar aspect.  Therefore, (typically) after the coffee (and toast) stage,  the daytime drinks will no longer be available for consumption.  After that, further drinks must be purchased via the Pay Bar.  Any unused daytime bottles will be available the next day for the client to take away.

Cocktails/Full Bar

If the client requires an extensive range of drinks to be offered (eg liqueurs or cocktails or beer kegs), we reserve the right to amend the above drinks service quote.

Chilling

Refrigeration is available at Pledgdon Barn to assist with chilling your drinks and this needs to be done several days prior to the event, for best effect.  You may wish to obtain bags of ice in addition.

Sorry to include this information, however, abusive behaviour to any staff (eg bar staff at closing time)

will not be tolerated and may result in loss of deposit and curtailment of bar facilities offered.
